Major Activities/Achievements : Indian Confederation for Healthcare Accreditation is a professionally owned and driven Not-for-Profit organisation incorporated as a Section 25 Company. The aim of ICHA is to strengthen our health system using modified accreditation as a tool. Addressing comprehensively the complexities of health system requires a collaborative team effort of all stakeholders. ICHA is the National multi-stakeholder Confederation of National Associations / Institutions for establishing validated excellence in healthcare. ICHA comprises all stakeholder groups viz Providers, Receivers and users, Payers and funders and Educators and regulators. Today all major National associations of Medical (Clinical, Lab, Admin), Nursing, Pharmacy, Therapy, Consumers, Management and Architects are subscribers (30 Associations). The major strengths of ICHA are a. Multi-stakeholder body comprising all stakeholders. Members being the National Associations / Institutions ensures high credibility b. Structure engenders opportunity to contribute by all and still circumventing politicking and individualism while achieving balanced outcomes c. Nearly 450 Affiliates from all walks and all over the country. Most of these very senior people are the virtual advisory panel. This resource capability assures ICHA being a “one-stop-shop” for all inputs needed for strengthening health systems in all its diverse aspects. d. Trust – Transparency – Transactions as the core values e. Follow the key concepts of quality as non-threatening, educative process to help upgrade all f. Validation of achieved excellence through peer review for credible assurance ICHA is empanelled with DFID for Quality Assurance in Health Sector. ICHA is a member of Credibility Alliance and have been assessed for Accreditation recently. Current projects at hand: 1. We have submitted draft MOUs to Uttarakhand, Jharkhand and MP Govts to develop model Healthcare delivery system. Two districts in each state shall be taken up to pilot the implementation. 2. We are amongst the six organizations globally to be invited by Ministry of Health and Population, Govt of Egypt to assist set up their systems. 3. ICHA has embarked on Patient Safety implementation with the WHO – Patient Safety and Global Patient Safety Challenges (GPSC I, II & III) as below: A. Commonwealth Fellowship Programme B. Multi – location events: One day events are being planned all over the country. Mumbai, Bhopal, Jaipur, Jalandhar, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Ranchi, Bangalore, Lucknow, Vellore, Chennai, Delhi, Pune. C. Develop partnerships with Healthcare Systems. D. Consolidation and Pre-convention event at Delhi in September. E. ICHA Convention on Patient Safety: 27 – 29 November 09 at New Delhi. H E Dr APJ Abdul Kalam has kindly consented to be the Chief Guest and bestowed the status of a mega event. Sir Liam Donaldson Chair WHO Patient Safety shall be the keynote speaker. Many other dignitaries and Partners shall collaborate. The convention shall have detailed deliberations on various aspects of Patient Safety. The focus shall be on India centric priorities and contributions. F. Education for Patient Safety
