Major Activities/Achievements : Foundation for Public Economics and Policy Research is an economic think tank and provides a rigorous academic perspective on the economic policy issues with a focus on providing expert advice to the union, state and local governments in the areas of public economics, public policy and governance. Foundation for Public Economics and Policy Research concentrates on a wide spectrum of rapidly evolving economic policy issues in the national and international context. One of the important activities of the Foundation for Public Economics and Policy Research relate to organizing short ration policy dialogue and training courses for policy makers, senior administrators and practitioners on different aspects of public economics, especially in relation to tax reforms, value added tax, e-commerce and e-governance. The Foundation for Public Economics and Policy Research maintains close functional links with the central and state governments. It collaborates studies with international agencies for pursuing its research and training agenda. It has its agenda to have research partnership arrangements with institutions and universities of other countries. The FPEPR has conducted Studies mainly in the following aspects: Fiscal Intervention for Environmental Protection: Growth, Unemployment and Eradication of Poverty Privatization of Higher Education in India. Revenue Implications of Introducing Goods and Services Tax in India Preparation of Finance Commission Memorandum for the State Governments. Tax Reforms in India Road User Taxes in India.
