FAIR TRADE FORUM INDIA  is organising a National level consultation on Sustainable Livelihood: the Scope of Fair Trade Interventions to solicit suggestions for Fair Trade interventions on two important areas viz ‘government schemes/ programs related to livelihood & market access’ and ‘capacity building related to non-tariff barriers in Trade.’ We consider addressing the above two aspects will be extremely helpful for the grassroots producers and their facilitators working for sustainable livelihood and market access. Representatives of livelihood generation organisations, research scholars and representatives of government departments will be attending the consultation.

Collecting suggestions to make fairer and robust strategies / actions / dialogues to link the beneficiaries with the schemes and respective departments is the primary objective of the consultation. Identifying capacity building requirements of the producers (SMEs/ artisans/ farmers) related to challenges in the international trade is the other aim of the workshop. Above all we have scheduled a session on NRLM’s Ajeevika program for learning, sharing and to explore future synergies to the participants.

Fair Trade Forum India aim to develop a set of suggestions ‘for effective implementation and monitoring of the policies/ programs in the point of view of producers – SMEs and artisans at the grassroots level’ as the output of the workshop. It will help us in taking up policy interventions and lobbying in the point of view of small producers – SMEs as well as grassroots artisans and farmers, at various levels. The consultation is organised in partnership with the European Commission and HIVOS, the Netherlands.
