Details of Achievements :
AADHAR is an initiative to perform & promote various activities in the field of traditional art, crafts and culture for the good of the general public with specific benefit towards enhancing inherent enterprise amongst the craftsmen and their families. With its operations started in November 2002, AADHAR propose to focus on harnessing skills possessed by the artists / craftsmen and develop professionalism while keeping their adherence to purity of craft and skill intact. We propose to spread awareness and sensitivity about the current situation of the crafts sector for the masses along with educating the craftsmen to come forth and be their own brand ambassadors as creative and intelligent professionals who are at core artists. This shall all be done in an organic way towards more progress gradually with the networking of the activities, organizations, and people so as to achieve the desired objective. Aadhar aims to revive arts and crafts at grass-root levels by being supportive sustaining the crafts, art and the flagging skills within for generations to come rather than being a commercial entity that vends the merchandise. Our constant activities are to spread awareness, Design and execute forums, seminars, interactive workshops, exhibitions etc, research, development and documentation activities concerned with / for the Cause, create marketing support Network to create employment Social upliftment, to promote non-formal medium of education. Here are our ongoing activities along with achievements of AADHAR till date. In January 2003 we conducted a “skill enhancement training of Hand Embroidery and Crochet” in Kochrab village in Ahmedabad with a group of young girls for enhancing their existing skills of the techniques. After the successful completion of the training the participants showed a need to put on show of their skills, so we developed products (Art pieces and Textile products) for contemporary market which further was showcased in an exhibition at Karnavati Art Gallery. The event was blessed by Shri Mrinalini Sarabhai and Shri Toofan Rafai along with many of our well wisher and Guruji Lt. Shri Muktanandji. Looking at the success of training and exhibition at Kochrab village, we initiated skill training for underprivileged children of the village for various skills like crochet, hand knitting & hand embroidery, with the cooperation of Kochrab Ashram. We are constantly in process of identifying needy and connecting the groups to concerned organisation for establishing them for regular livelihood. At present in out ongoing projects we are reviewing a group of women from Rajkot knowing “BeadWork” skills to connect them for regular income. Subsequently is the project where we are in process of grassroot level survey of the current situation of “the Potters of Panchmahal”. Along with that we are doing an awareness project through schools for our traditional arts and crafts which is aimed to conclude in developing syllabus integrating our traditional arts & crafts.
