Details of Achievements :

Major Activities/Achievements : Indian Youth Climate Network (IYCN) operates as a vibrant open youth network. The main objective is to connect with youth as well as inform and involve young people in protecting the natural environment and prevent climate change. The network’s main aim is to build consensus among Indian youth in matters pertaining to the field of climate, ecology and environment through series of sustained actions as well as efforts, leading to change in national policies which are believed to be cornerstones of sustainable development in future. IYCN also played a key role in sending youth for the first time ever to the Conference of Parties organised by UNFCCC in 2008. Since then, more than 30 young people have participated and contributed in key policy deliberations at COPs. The Indian Youth Climate Network operates with the objective of Creating and raising awareness among youth in climate change and allied sectors Implement programmes and projects related to environmental conservation Network, promote and advocate policy issues related to climate change The Indian Youth Climate Network has successfully delivered many multi-facet projects and programmes since its inception throughout the country. The Great Power Race (GPR) is a clean energy competition between universities and other college/school campuses in India, China and the US. The aim is to kick-start hundreds of new climate solution projects on campuses and in communities in all three countries and to demonstrate to governments and businesses our generation’s leadership in transforming our world towards a green economy Rural Climate Fellows The aim of the project is to enable village residents to use the information on Climate Change, Panchayati Raj, government schemes and infrastructure to solve the issues they are facing Eco-Audit An action-oriented programme enabling youth to audit resource consumption of businesses & help them mitigate Climate Change risks by making recommendations on how to cut down use of resources & costs Agents of Change The Indian Youth Delegations to the Conference of Parties (COP) under UNFCCC is one of the flagship programs of IYCN. It is aimed at representing the voice of the Indian Youth in the international climate change negotiations as mandated by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Climate Leadership Training Program The training is provided to generate awareness on climate change in the youth and share success stories to encourage them to take action. It has sections on climate science, urgency of action, what actions can be taken and group activity Sustainable Solutions Conference, Jammu and Kashmir The objective of the forum was to create a framework for policies conducive to the Sustainable Development of the state of Jammu and Kashmir. The conference was attended by more than 100 delegates from the state with five ministers. The Hon’ble Chief Minister of J & K delivered the concluding speech and remarks.
