Details of Achievements :

Major Activities/Achievements : Innovative practices like inter-sectoral convergence, Integrated Water & Environment Management (IWEM), water-energy-food nexus, public-public partnership in water, environment and sanitation sectors pioneered by India Water Foundation have found articulation in over 7,000 communications addressed to various ministries of Government of India and state governments, UN agencies like UNEP, UN Habitat, UNESCO, WHO, FAO, UN-ESCAP etc, international agencies like ICID IWMI, Circle of Blue, PUB Singapore, IWA, Global Water Partnership, JICA-India etc., over 250 articles published in various journals and magazines, online blogs and through presentations at National and International seminars/workshops. The IWF has also hosted some trend-setting national and international conferences and a regional workshop where articulation has been provided to the vision and mission of the IWF and these are briefly described below: On 14 February 2010, India Water Foundation, in collaboration with the Ministry of Water Resources, Government of India, Dev Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya, Haridwar, and allied organizations, hosted one-day international conference on Innovative Ancient Techniques in Resolving the Current Crisis of Soil, Water and Environment at New Delhi. This proved instrumental in mobilizing opinion in favour of judicious use of water resources in agricultural sector and emphasis on organic farming. On 9 November 2011, an International Conference on Water Use Efficiency in Industrial Sector was held in Jaipur (Rajasthan) jointly by India Water Foundation, New Delhi and RIICO, Govt. of Rajasthan Jaipur. Supported by Ministry of Water Resources GOI, this International Conference proved a game-changer in water sector in Rajasthan because in the immediate aftermath of the conference, the government of Rajasthan enacted the State Water Law for the first time and concurrently the Department of Industries of the state government announced allocation of additional plots to industrial units in the state to install water treatment plants for recycling of industrial waste water for reuse. On 4-8 November 2012, the IWF hosted Regional Workshop on Water Quality Monitoring in the Asia-Pacific Region in collaboration with UNEP-GEMS Water at New Delhi. Major dignitaries like Union Minister of Water Resources, Union Minister of State for Rural Development, and secretaries from Union Ministry of Urban Development, Union Ministry of Drinking Water & Sanitation, all from Government of India, along with water experts from India and abroad participated in it. India Water Foundation organized a meeting on “Regional Cooperation, Human Development and Water” on 29 November 2013 at New Delhi,, in collaboration with UN-ESCAP’s New Delhi office for South and South-West Asia India and MHHDC Pakistan. India Water Foundation has partnership, rapport and accreditation with many national and international organisations, NGOs and CSOs etc. It is a UNEP-accredited Civil Society accredited to UNEP and other UN Organisations. It is also a knowledge partner of Meghalaya Basin Development Authority (MBDA) Government of Meghalaya. The President of the IWF is a member of Meghalaya State Water Resources Council. The IWF is also providing its services for social development and Public Awareness and Public Participation (PAPP) activities under the JICA- assisted Ganga Action Plan project in Varanasi.
