Forum for Organised Resource Conservation and Enhancement partners with government and local leaders, communities and funding partners to offer end to end support to citizen groups interested in adopting water conservation practices. From research studies, seminars to creating awareness, interest and finally implementation, FORCE uses the 4 Way Partnership model to cover the entire spectrum of activities related to water conservation. In recognition of our contribution to the Rainwater Harvesting movement in Delhi, the Delhi Government has recommended our name for the National Water Award (Ministry of Water Resources) for 2006-07. Forum for Organised Resource Conservation and Enhancement has also been short-listed for the National Urban Water Awards 2009. In community water conservation efforts, FORCE follows the AIDA approach (Awareness Interest Desire Action) to graduate communities from awareness to implementing Water Conservation measures in their areas. Using customized programs, Forum for Organised Resource Conservation and Enhancement cuts across age, income, gender lines to spread the 5 Rs message of water conservation ( Reduce Wastage, Reuse used water, Recharge Groundwater, Recycle Waste Water and most important, Respect water). Forum for Organised Resource Conservation and Enhancement has created a strong network of Residents Welfare Associations and funding partners that are actively propagating water conservation and recharge measures. As a result, in just 3 years, Forum for Organised Resource Conservation and Enhancement has successfully partnered with funding partners such as DRDO, DST, WaterAid, Coca-Cola India, Aviva Life Insurance, Diageo and KPMG and various government departments to create awareness about water in 250 localities and schools, implemented , helped optimize 150 Rainwater Harvesting structures with an annual recharge capacity of more than 80 crore litres of water. As a part of a DRDO sponsored project, Forum for Organised Resource Conservation and Enhancement has recommended a plan for sustainable self sufficiency in water for an Air Force Station in Delhi. We are now making RWH plans for all Air Force Stations under the Western Air Command. We have organized national seminars, workshops with key water experts as speakers. It has also submitted policy recommendations on water management to the Delhi government, some of which have been accepted and implemented. It has made design innovations in rainwater harvesting and are also working on a project to use abandoned and dried Borewells for recharge to groundwater. FORCE is also trying to create better living conditions for the urban poor by working towards providing them with sustainable water and sanitation solutions. It believes that new technology, traditional wisdom and people’s participation hold the key to resolving water management problems. And creating WATER WISE citizens
