Major Activities/Achievements : DRI is working to give India a new direction is the need of the hour. Peoples initiative and local issues are a key component for any successful rural development program. Complimentarity and a social consciousness in society form the basis of a Nations soul. Without looking at the needs of a society in totality, no development program can succeed. Deendayal Research Institute, set up in 1968 is currently working to validate the philosophy of Integral Humanism under the inspirational guidance of reknowned social worker Padam Vibhushan Hon. Nanaji Deshmukh. Models for development such as providing services for health, hygine, basic education, training for self employment etc. have been developed to achieve overall socio economic development and reconstruction of Indian Society. General Programmes of the Institute are defined as under: 1. Health for all through Ayurvedic and Yogic practice with preventive and curative methods. 2. Sustainable agriculture for adequate production of food, vegetables and fruits while maintaining natural productively of the soil. 3. Improved indigenous method for cow development programmes. 4. Intensive development of forest resources for protection of environment and pollution control consistent with abundance of forest wealth. 5. Community efforts for water management. 6. Cottage and village industries developing on the basis of available raw material for employment generation and achievement of proper balance between agriculture and industrialization to improve economic standard. 7. Creating facilities for general education and providing opportunities for imparting knowledge to all men and women in each village for self reliance, clean wholesome and serene human habits, socialization and march in progressive direction. 8. Ensuring active participation of people in improvement of education pattern, thus creating mutual harmony, understanding and complementarity amongst the guardians and the teachers. 9. Ensuring participation of people in family welfare, social, economic and cultural enhancement. 10. Arranging games, gymnastics, yoga and other activities for development of health and sportsmanship spirit in new generation. 11. Creating necessary entertainment infrastructures. 12. Developing parks for children and providing various playing facilities. 13. To raise community centers for women and providing pictorial details on various schemes for creating awareness and improving family atmosphere and social behavior. 14. Inviting experts on various subjects of rural development to visit villages to have interaction between villages and themselves to improve the level of understanding amongst the rural masses. 15. Sorting our litigation at village level and development of non controversial personalities with non partisan spirit in every locality. 16. Strengthening village cooperatives and panchayati raj system devoid of caste, creed and religious dogmatism. 17. Standardization and quality control of Ayurvedic Drug Formulations. 18. Use of IT for discrimination of information and Human Resource Development. 19. Networking and knowledge sharing with other VOs, NGOs and Govt. agencies. To evolve a model of reconstruction of Indian Society and Rural Development, Deendayal Research Institute launched a Self Reliance Campaign at Chitrakoot. Self Reliance Campaign DRI Chitrakoot Project is an integrated and holistic model for the development of rural India, based on the principles outlined in Pt. Deendayal Upadhyayas Integral Humanism to create a society based on the complimentarity of the family, school and the local population. The Chitrakoot Project is a self Reliance campaign that was launched on 26th January 2002 and will cover 500 villages around Chitrakoot in 2 phases. The 80 villages taken up in the 1st phase became Self Reliant on 15th August 2005, and the remaining villages will attain Self Reliance by 15th August 2010. The then President of India H.E. Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam visited Chitrakoot and got first hand experience of success of this campaign. He appreciated this model of Deendayal Research Institute at various Forum after that. Deendayal Research Institute is confident that its self reliance model, based on the universal principle of Integral Humanism that is both replicable and sustainable, can be a model for the future of India as also for global developmental problems. Our confident in the success of this model is reflected by the ISO 9001:2000 Certification provided to this model by DNV of Norway. Deendayal Research Institute and its volunteers have always put their sincere efforts to bring the happiness in the face of last man of society. And they have committed themselves only for this cause. DRI has never thought upon the recognition and distinctions, but still at various national and international levels this noble task of DRI have been recognized time to time, this have been given below. Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Govt. of India, has accorded DRI with Established Voluntary Organization (EVA) status. Deendayal Research Institute is recognized as Scientific and Industrial Research Organization Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. of India under section 35(1)(ii)and(iii) of Income Tax Act 1961. Mahatma Gandhi Samman, Apex award of Madhya Pradesh government for implementing the gandhian thought for the upliftment of rural and downtrodden. Out of 540 KVKs running in India, the Krishi Vigyan Kendra,Chitrakoot has been awarded National KVK Award for the year 2004-05. Research Laboratory has been accorded Center of excellence by Department of AYUSH, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.
