Having realised that mere rhetoric and inaction would get us nowhere, the well known environmental missionary, Mrs Tripat Parmar took the initiative and set up DEEKSHA as an NGO registered as a trust under the Indian Trust Act II of 1882. DEEKSHA, with the sincere hard work and dedication of all associated with it has over the years charted its own path and given shape and direction to environmental conservation and protection activities in a number of regions of the country.

As our name “Diffuse Environmental Education Keep Society Humbly Aware” signifies, we constantly work for the betterment of the society. We are involved in preservation of environment, plantation activities, growing herbal plants, development of herbal gardens, water harvesting and solid waste management. Besides these activities we also publish a quarterly environmental magazine “DEEKSHA – The Complete Environment Magazine.”

At DEEKSHA, the “marg-darshaks” are people from all ages and sections of the society. With the feeling of belongingness and cooperation, we have played a vital role in educating the younger generation for preserving and conserving the environment and its related facets

Environmental education is education through, about and for environment and is a way of implementing the goals of environmental protection. It is not a separate branch of science or subject of study. We believe that it should be carried out according to the principle of lifelong integral education. With the firm belief that it is high time we realize the need of environmental education in totality and in right earnest as it helps us understand different food chains and the ecological balance in nature, appreciate how environment is used for making a living and for promoting material culture besides opening our eyes to the havoc we have wrought on ourselves in the form of by-products of the progress attained by us DEEKSHA has been carrying on with it’s mission of greening the minds of the society to inform and educate the people as to how we can inter wine progress and life so that they exist together.

We at DEEKSHA have always felt that the teachers and the children are the best medium to disseminate knowledge to the society as they act as catalysts to change the mindset of the society about various facets of Environmental and Natural Resource Conservation and Management as we believe that the children are the 100% future of the nation and the school teachers are effective catalysts in shaping the minds of children during their formative years and help make them realize the importance of having a clean and green environment around them.

Children are a vital part of society and are fundamental to its future. The children, who are the hope of our nation, play an essential role in various activities of DEEKSHA. They actively come forward and offer a helping hand with vigour and enthusiasm. Many schools have come at the forefront to be a part of our environmental initiative.

Besides focussing our efforts towards children, we also conduct workshops for women, teachers, and senior citizens from time to time to build their interest in this noble cause and continually look forward to suggestions from them to make our initiatives progressive and people friendly. DEEKSHA aims to change the mindsets of the people who think that we are not the only one responsible for the ugly face of environment today. We may not be the only one, but we certainly can become the first one to save it.
