The Aga Khan Foundation established in Switzerland in 1967. seeks sustainable solutions to long term problems of poverty, hunger, illiteracy and ill health throughout the world, with special emphasis on the needs of rural communities in mountainous and other resource- poor areas. The Aga Khan Foundation head office is in Geneva, Switzerland, the Foundation has offices in Canada, USA and the UK, and in 13 developing countries including India. The Foundation programmes are funded with the generous assistance of more than 60 national and international development agencies as well as many individual and corporate donors. Grants are managed through the country offices of the Foundation.
